About

Due to restrictions around COVID-19, we are currently unable to intake any new Program Volunteers, Tutors, or Mentors. Tentatively, these positions will begin the intake process again during the Spring 2021 semester. We encourage anyone interested in these positions to still apply, as your application will be reviewed and put on hold until the restrictions are lifted. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.

Mission: Empower children from under-resourced communities to succeed in school, college, and career by providing academic, social, and emotional support from elementary school through college, along with post-secondary tuition assistance.

Vision: Our dream is a world where every child has equal access to the educational and career opportunities that will ignite their innate potential.

“I Have A Dream” needs mentors to provide Dreamer Scholars with long-term, reliable, and supportive relationships. Mentors offer one-on-one guidance and support, serving as positive role models.

Our goal: each Dreamer Scholar will have at least one mentor for one year before high school graduation. This volunteer opportunity is not focused on academics.

Commitment: One year, meeting twice per month.

  • The timeframe for meeting varies among mentor/mentee matches depending on the schedules of the mentor, mentee, and the mentee’s family.

Example times and places to meet:

  • Have lunch with them at school

  • Pick them up after school or after the “I Have A Dream” program (with permission)

  • Spend time together on weekends

  • Spend time together on days when there is no school

  • Attend “I Have A Dream” events with the mentee
